Elections

The ASUCD holds two elections a year, one in fall quarter on week 7 and one in spring quarter on week 4. Six ASUCD Senators are elected with each election; however, all other elected offices are voted on in the spring.

The Elections Officer and The Elections Committee

The ASUCD Elections Officer and Elections Committee administer ASUCD elections and ensure that ASUCD elections are fair and unbiased. The Elections Officers serves as the chairperson of the Elections Committee, enforces the Elections Code as stated in the ASUCD Bylaws, and works to promote the election and related material. The Elections Committee sets specific deadlines for the election’s calendar and timeline and assigns violation points for infractions of the Elections Code. The Elections Officer has a volunteer staff and all members of the Elections Committee selected internally from the Internal Affairs Commission and the ASUCD Judicial Council as per the ASUCD Constitution. The Elections Officer is an administrator and works for the Student Government Administrative Office, whereas the Elections Committee is an independent body inside the ASUCD allowing the Elections Officer and the Elections Committee to conduct business without interference or bias.

Governing Documents

The ASUCD Elections Officer and the Elections Committee have a constitutional mandate to administer ASUCD elections as per Article 5 of the ASUCD Constitution. The Elections Officer and the Elections Committee administer ASUCD elections in accordance with Article 5 of the ASUCD Constitution and the Elections code as stated in Chapter 14 of the ASUCD Bylaws.
