Hello fellow Aggies! My name is Kevin Butt, and I want to be your next ASUCD Senator. I am a transfer student currently in my 4th year here at UC Davis after transferring in last Fall. Currently I am majoring in African American and African Studies, Political Science, and Theater and Dance. I am involved with the Davis Color Guard Ensemble as a Co-Director, MK’s and FAHC’s Big Sib Little Sib mentorship programs, pledging with Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, as well as working for Unitrans as Customer Outreach Representative.
I have served in many different capacities of my community college student government such as Business Senator, Vice President, and President of the Associated Students of Solano College. I have also held leadership positions within my campus organizations such as President of the honor society Alpha Gamma Sigma, and President of Community College Pathways to Law School initiative.
The platforms I plan to work on and accomplish during my term as an ASUCD Senator are:
Bridging the gap Transfer Students face
- Work on forming and maintaining a committee of transfer representatives to advise the Senate on issues that affect the transfer experience.
-Develop a mentorship for incoming transfers and pair them with transfer students who have been here at UC Davis to help navigate and guide them through the resources and opportunities available.
-Pass legislation that makes the Association recognize the lack of access and opportunity for transfer students trying to navigate and get into the Association.
-Work on Constitutional Amendments that would reserve Senator seats for Transfer students; similar to how other UC’s already have in place.
-Work with Unitrans, Tipsy Taxi, and Safe Ride to hold workshops and further develop outreach on how to use the services that are provided.
-Work with Unitrans to collect student feedback on issues they face with the services being provided.
-Work on securing more funding for our transportation services to help further the capacity to overall -operations to benefit students.
-Hold all executives and members of the senate to the same standards on job performance and duties.
-Work with the University to provide more access to blue lights (emergency call boxes) on and around campus as well as better lighting in areas of concern.
-Provide easier access on all information related to student government by having working links on the ASUCD website.
-Work with all Senators to hold office hours in different locations on campus and make sure it is accessible to all students.
-Provide easier access to all who are interested in getting involved with the ASUCD by holding workshops and events on how to apply for jobs and positions within ASUCD, run in an election or navigate all of the resources offered.
-Work on the budget to allow better access to funds for student organizations and the Office of Advocacy and Student Representation.
-Work with Creative Media to help have all information translated and accessible, to make sure the best -possible access is bei
